IRGC keeping hold of two U.S. drones shot down over PG

TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (MNA) -- The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps(IRGC) said it is keeping hold of two U.S. surveillance aircrafts it has shot down over the Persian Gulf(PG).

A senior IRGC commander said Iran had shot down two unmanned U.S. reconnaissance drone aircrafts over the Persian Gulf.

“Now, we have these airplanes and we will show them at an appropriate time in the future,”IRGC Navy Commander Ali Fadavi said on Saturday.

Fadavi said that these aircrafts are U.S. most modern reconnaissance drones and can take off from aircraft carriers easily because they are very small.

He said the United States which regards itself as a superpower is reluctant to admit the downing of its surveillance aircrafts.

Pentagon, in response to Iran’s announcement, rejected that two of its aircrafts have been shot down by Iran but said some of its aircrafts crashed due to some malfunctions.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Fadavi said the IRGC Navy monitors foreign warships sailing in the Persian Gulf and crossing the Strait of Hrmuz.

He said all foreign battleships and aircraft carriers are being monitored with electronic systems as well as the IRGC Navy patrol officers.
