Iran, Poland discuss joint film productions

TEHRAN, Jan. 16(MNA) -- Shafi Aqamohmmadian, director of Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) and Polish Cultural and Press Attaché Radoslaw Pytlak discussed joint film productions.

The two officials met here in Tehran where Aqamohmmadian handed Pytlak the cash prizes for the two Polish films winning in fourth Cinéma Vérité Festival, the Iranian event highlighting documentary films, DEFC Public Relations Office reported on Saturday.

The international section of the festival held in November 2010 had picked “Chemo” by Pawel Lozinski and “Mother” by Jakub Piatek.

Radoslaw Pytlak also stressed on holding an Iranian film week in Poland as well as arranging a Polish film week in Iran.

“I met a friend of (Krzysztof) Kieslowski who had made a documentary on the last days of his life. There is not much material available on the director’s life, but I hope I can finish this doc and screen it right here in Tehran at the next Polish week,” he said.

Kieslowski (1941- 1996) was an influential Polish film director and screenwriter, known internationally for his film cycles “The Decalogue” and “Three Colors”.

A selection of Polish documentaries is also due to be screened at Tehran’s Sepideh Theater Hall in the near future, the report added.
