Charter of principlism outlined in Iran
TEHRAN, Jan. 17 (MNA)-- Combatant Clergy Association and the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom issued a joint statement defining principlism and outlining the policies of the principlists.
The statement, which has been signed by two prominent principlist figures namely Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi and Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi-Kani, cites firm adherence to Islam, the Constitution, Imam Khomeini’s line, and the principle of velayat-e faqih (rule by the supreme jurisprudent) as the main principles of this political faction.
The statement also outlines the major policies of the principlists which are safeguarding the Islamic values, remaining loyal to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, obeying guidelines set by the Supreme Leader, respecting the status of the clergy, defending the oppressed and needy people, campaigning against corruption, promoting legal freedoms, upholding religious democracy, supporting country’s progress in all areas, managing the country’s affairs based on Islamic principles, fighting against the global arrogance, taking firm stance against the enemies, and making efforts to achieve the Islamic unity.
