Hegemonic powers are source of regional instability: Iranian Majlis Speaker

TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (MNA) -- Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the policies adopted by the hegemonic powers are the main source of instability in the region.

Larijani made the remarks at a meeting with Uruguayan Parliament Speaker Ivonne Pasada in Tehran on Monday.

Commenting on the current situation in regional countries including Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan, Larijani said, “The occupiers’ policies have only promoted terrorism and increased the production and trafficking of drugs… in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Elsewhere in his talks, he said the regional nations will never bow to bullying by the arrogant powers.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani called for increased cooperation between Iran and Uruguay in areas of politics, economy, technology, energy, industry, and agriculture.

Pasada, for her part, said that Uruguay acknowledges Iran’s right to access nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes.

She also called for the implementation of signed agreements between the two countries.

The two parliament speakers also inked a memorandum of understanding on parliamentary cooperation.

Moreover, Pasada held talks with Iranian Acting Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi late on Monday.
