Iranian ensemble “Darkub” to release album blending regional melodies

TEHRAN, Jan. 18(MNA) -- The Iranian ensemble “Darkub” conducted by Homayun Nasiri will be releasing their second album featuring a combination of music from Iran, Armenia and Turkey.

Two musicians from Turkey and Armenia are scheduled to accompany the band to play their regional music, Nasiri told Monday.

“We are currently negotiating with two top musicians who will be playing the songs with their own traditional instruments,” he added. The names of the musicians were not given in the report.

“Iranian regional music such as melodies coming from Khorasan, Kordestan and southern Iran are also used in the compositions,” he said.

The band is planning to invite a singer to join the group, he remarked.

The album is due to be released in the next Iranian calendar year (beginning March 21, 2011).
