Embassy declares amount of fuel Iran shipped to Afghanistan
TEHRAN, Jan. 19 (MNA) -- Iran’s embassy in Afghanistan issued a statement announcing the total amount of fuel shipped from Iran to Afghanistan over the past 10 months.
The statement came in response to some alleged reports that Iran had blocked the shipment of fuels into Afghanistan.
Some Afghans took to streets in western Herat and marched to the Iranian consulate.
According to the statement, from 3.21.2010 to 12.21.2010, 17,546 tankers of fuel weighing 399,764 tons, and from 12.22.2010 to 1.15.2011, 925 tankers weighing 71,501 tons were shipped from Iran to Afghanistan.
160 tankers of fuel are currently held at a border checkpoint to be allowed to enter Afghanistan.
Iran will ship fuels to Afghanistan, based on the agreements signed between the two countries.
