Azeri academician re-elected as IUE vice-president
Baku, January 19 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani academician Ziyad Samadzade has been re-elected to the post of the vice-president of the International Union of Economists (IUE).
Samadzade`s candidacy was supported at the Union`s 20th Anniversary Meeting, which took place in Vienna.
The event, co-organized by Magistrate of the City of Vienna and the Moscow City Government, was held under the motto “Economic problems of the state`s capitals”.
Samadzade made report on economic mechanisms of the balanced development of big cities and regions.
The participants of the Anniversary Meeting included mayors of capitals of different states, members of the International Union of Economists, leading scientists and economists, representatives of governmental and executive authorities of different countries, as well as representatives of business structures and international organizations.
The key issues for discussion included: the role of economic development of capital cities in the post-industrial world; informational cooperation of authorities and citizens; citizens` quality of life improvement; capitals as international financial centers; energy saving and energy effectiveness policies of the capitals` municipal economy; spiritual and cultural functions of capitals; state-private cooperation.
The International Union of Economists (IUE) was founded in Bulgaria (Sandansk) at 1991 by prominent economists, scientists and experts, public figures, bankers and businessmen from various countries of the world as the international independent public non-governmental association on the basis of voluntarily and equity of its members.
The main principles of the IUE`s activities proclaimed at its establishment are democracy, humanism and open dialogue.
