DUTCH STUDENTS TO VISIT AMBON FOR COMPARATIVE STUDIES

Ambon, Indonesia, Aug 13 (ANTARA) - At least 12 students from Vissingen city in the Netherlands will make a two-week visit in Maluku province to conduct comparative studies starting August 16, 2008, a local official said here Wednesday.
Ambon Vice Mayor Olivia Latuconsina said the Dutch students would come from different academic backgrounds and their activities in Maluku would be part of a Vissingen-Ambon city cooperation scheme in the educational field.
The students would visit several schools in Ambon city, including one that is being prepared to meet international standards, to observe the studying processes at the schools.
Also on the students' program would be visits to community health centers, hospitals, old-folk's homes, travel bureaus, hotels and restaurants in Maluku's provincial capital to study the establishments' management and operations.
"The visits are to be adjusted to the students' different fields of study as some of them are studying to become doctors, others nurses, teachers, and travel bureau agents," said Latuconsina.
In addition, the Dutch students would also take part in activities sponsored by the Ambon city administration to celebrate Indonesia's 63rd Independence Day on August 17, Maluku province's 63rd anniversary on August 18, and Ambon city's 443rd anniversary on September 7, 2008.
Latunconsina said in reciprocation to the Vlissingen students' visit in Maluku, the Ambon city administration was planning to send a group of Ambon students to the Netherlands in October 2008.
