120 PRISON INMATES TO BE INSTALLED AS BOYSCOUTS
Jakarta, Aug 13 (ANTARA)- A total of 120 inmates in Cipinang penitentiary, East Jakarta, were scheduled to be installed as front- line boyscouts (Gudep Pramuka) on Thursday, a spokesman said.
Akbar Adi Prabowo, public relations officer of the correctional institutions directorate general said here Wednesday that the installation of the 120 prison inmates as boyscouts on Thursday coincided with Boyscouts Day on August 14.
"Coinciding with Boy Scouts Day, the prison inmates also celebrate the event by their installation as front-line boyscouts," Akbar said.
Asked whether or not all the inmates can join the Gudep Pramuka, Akbar said, the decision will depend on security evaluation by the prison's chief warden.
Establishing boyscouts in the prison itself, will have a character building effect on the inmates.
