`No political prisoner in Azerbaijan`
Baku, February 2 (AzerTAc). There is no political prisoner in Azerbaijan. There are people who were convicted of concrete crimes. There is no concept of political prisoner in legal documents and criminal code of any European and Asian countries. If there was any, the Council of Europe might have added political the prisoner concept to any document, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Ziyafet Asgarov said in the first session.
According to him, some forces continue to accuse Azerbaijan using this concept. Studies conducted in Azerbaijan suggest international organizations deliberately shy away from including the fact of absence of political prisoners into their documents. They want to use it to interfere into domestic affairs of the country.
He also criticized Council of Europe`s discussing the killing of Christians in the Middle east. Asgarov noted while over a million Azerbaijanis were displaced from their homes Europe continues to raise this issue.
`People have the same rights in every corner of the globe and everyone should know this,` he said.
