Turkish energy minister discusses energy and construction investments in Iraq

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Turkey's energy and natural resources minister debated energy and construction investments in Iraq with the deputy prime minister of this country on Thursday.
Taner Yildiz had a meeting with Husayn Ibrahim Salih al-Shahristani, the deputy prime minister of Iraq for energy, in Istanbul.
"We debated developments in Iraq after establishment of the new government, and particularly cooperation opportunities," Yildiz told reporters.
Yildiz said Turkish companies should from now on invest in not only energy but also construction industry in Iraq.
Also speaking to reporters, al-Shahristani said Turkish companies were operating in oil and gas fields in Iraq, and they were members of two oil and two natural gas field consortia. 
"A Turkish company has won the biggest electricity generation tender in Iraq," al-Shahristani said.
Al-Shahristani said Iraq wanted to see Turkish companies in many other areas, not only in energy, and particulary in reconstruction, dwelling and infrastructure projects.
"We are doing our best for more cooperation," al-Shahristani also said.
Al-Shahristani said Iraq was about to sign a contract for 11,00-megawatts of electricity in two months, and forecast electricity investment need of his country for the following two decades around 80 billion USD.
The deputy prime minister also said he did not think the incidents in Egypt would cause a rise in oil prices.
