Iranian housing minister survives helicopter crash

TEHRAN, Feb. 8 (MNA) – A helicopter carrying Iran`s Housing and Urban Development Minister Ali Nikzad crashed on Tuesday in Maku in West Azarbaijan province.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The helicopter crashed into a nearby building and broke one of its blades shortly after taking off from a military base in Maku.
But the pilot skillfully managed to control the helicopter and save the lives of the housing minister and other officials on board including the governor general of West Azarbaijan province.
Nikzad was appointed on Monday as the caretaker transport minister.
The appointment came after former Transport Minister Hamid Behbahani was impeached and voted out of office last week.
Poor situation of the country’s aviation industry and a recent plane crash in Urmia, the capital of city of the West Azarbaijan, triggered the impeachment of the transport minister.
