Tehran-Ankara ties on the rise
TEHRAN, Feb.13(MNA) -- During an interview,Turkish President Abdullah Gul described Tehran-Ankara relations as “deep-rooted” and “developing”, adding his visit to Iran will pave the way for further cooperation between the two countries.
He said that Iranian and Turkish officials will discuss various issues in the area of politics, economics, and culture.
Gul also stated that his visit comes upon on an invitation by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
A 300-member delegation including 135 state officials, over 100 merchants, and 25 reporters will be accompanying Gul in his visit.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Interior Minister Besir Atalay, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz are among the delegation members.
He is scheduled to hold talks with senior Iranian officials including the Supreme Leader, president, foreign minister, parliament(Majlis) speaker, and first vice president.
According to Tehran’s ambassador to Ankara, Bahman Hosseinpour, a number of economic agreements will be signed between the two countries.
Gul will also pay a visit to the Iranian cities of Isfahan and Tabriz on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
