250 scholars invited to attend Tehran`s Islamic unity conference
TEHRAN (MNA) - Commenting on the 24th International Islamic Unity Conference, World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Secretary General Ayatollah Taskhiri said that 250 scholars from 57 countries have been invited to attend the conference.
It is expected that 200 of the invited scholars will participate in the conference, he added.
Ayatollah Taskhiri also said that “Intellectual and Practical Solutions to Realize Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought” would be the official theme of the conference.
According to the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, scholars from Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, China, Denmark, Egypt, Britain, France, Gambia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Sweden, Tajikistan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Tunisia, Turkey, Yemen, and 21 other countries have been invited to the gathering.
Five hundred Shia and Sunni scholars from various Iranian cities have also been invited to the conference.
Ayatollah Taskhiri also announced that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is scheduled to deliver the inaugural address of the conference.
Iranian Minister of Islamic Culture and Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hoseini will give a speech during the closing ceremony, he added.
Potential solutions to realize the proximity of Islamic schools of thought, the promotion of unity among Muslims, and the latest developments in the Islamic world are some of the topics that will be discussed during the conference.
