Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Egypt restores its human dignity

TEHRAN (MNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Egypt restored its human dignity following the downfall of Hosni Mubarak.

“Egyptians’ rights have been denied and their human dignity has been ruined over years, (but) this victory caused Egypt to restore its human dignity,” Salehi told on Sunday.

After 18 days of protests and demonstrations by millions of Egyptians, who called for the departure of Mubarak and the establishment of a democratic government, on Friday Mubarak decided to step aside and transfer power to the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces.

The new foreign minister went on to say that Egyptians’ vigilance, which resulted in this great triumph in the region, should be regarded as an indication of a bright future for the country.

Salehi also said Egypt’s armed forces are currently running the country and “this army has a great status among Egypt’s citizens.”

He called on the Egyptian military to help establish a new government, saying a delay in forming a new government could have negative consequences.
