PRESIDENT HOLDS VIDEO CONFERENCE WITH PEOPLE IN OUTLYING ISLANDS

Jakarta, Aug 16 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono held a video conference with the communities of two backward villages and two outlying islands on Saturday afternoon.

The conference was attended by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono and almost all cabinet ministers.

On the occasion, the head of state spoke to residents of Breueh island in Aceh Besar district, Kisar Island in Southwest Maluku district, Marore village in Sangihe district, and Rinding Allo village in Luwuk Utara district, South Sulawesi.

The president and the ministers spoke not only with local community figures but also with a number of ordinary people in the four areas.

Meanwhile, Communication and Information Minister M Nuh who was also present at the event said the video conference was meant as a gesture to stimulate the people's love for their country.

"By greeting people, we show our ettention ...one of the problems people in remote regions are facing is lack of teleommunication facilities," the minister said.
