YOGYAKARTA SULTAN HOPES RI CAN BECOME CORRUPTION-FREE COUNTRY
Yogyakarta, Aug 16 (ANTARA) - Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X has expressed hope that Indonesia can become a corruption-free country.
"My hope in observing the 63rd anniversary of Indonesia's independence is that the country can rid itself of corruption," the sultan said here on Saturday.
To be free from corruption, he said, the nation's leaders and all elements of the public should do self-correction through introspection.
He also expressed hope that the country's leaders and bureaucrats would dedicate themselves to the greatest possible extent and make maximum contributions to the state's and nation's interest.
In addition, all leaders and bureaucrats should be more honest and render their best possible services to the public.
"I say honesty is important because too many leaders in this country have committed corruption, but through honesty, Indonesia can free itself from corruption," Hamengkubuwono said.
