ACEH GOVERNOR UNDER INTENSIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT IN SINGAPORE
Banda Aceh, Aug 17 (ANTARA) - Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) Governor Irwandi Yusuf was still under intensive medical treatment at a hospital in Singapore, Vice Governor Muhammad Nazar said here on Sunday.
"Governor Irwandi's health condition is improving but he remains under medical treatment in Singapore," Muhammad Nazar told the newsmen after observing the 63rd anniversary of Indonesia's independence day at Blang Padang square here.
The vice governor has just returned from Singapore to visit Governor Irwandi who was under hospital treatment for his fatigue in Singapore.
"Almost every night our governor went to bed at about 3 in the morning and therefore he was extremely tired because of hard work," Muhammad Nazar said.
Asked when the Governor Irwandi would return to Banda Aceh, Nazar said the former would left the hospital after his condition was 100 percent improved.
Governor Irwandi Yusuf was flown to Singapore on August 7 but Aceh administration spokesman Hamid Zein denied reports that the governor went to the country for medical treatment after suffering a stroke.
"The news that Governor Irwandi Yusuf suffered a stroke is not true. The governor is hale and healthy. He leaves for Singapore today (Thursday) for a routine checkup," Hamid Zein told newsmen here on Thursday (August 7).
He made the statement to deny reports saying that the governor had had a stroke and was flown to Singapore for medical treatment.
"Before leaving for Singapore this morning, Governor Irwandi Yusuf chaired a meeting but later left it to Vice Governor Muhammad Nazar," Hamid Zein said.
He added that the governor was in good shape and there was nothing wrong with his health.
"The governor even drove his private car from Banda Aceh to Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport in Blang Bintang," Zein said.
Hamid called on the local media to avoid publishing stories which were not from the right and reliable sources.
"Try to get information from competent and reliable sources so as not to confuse the public," Hamid said.
