Seditionists’ contact with outside world should be cut off : Tehran Friday prayers leader

TEHRAN, Feb.19(MNA)-- Tehran Friday prayers leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati urged the Judiciary to take special measures to prevent the seditionists from organizing new protests.

“The Judiciary should cut off their contact with the society and the outside world in order to prevent them from taking new seditious moves,” Jannati said.

“The doors of these people’s houses should be closed, their contact with their elements should be cut off, their phone lines, Internet and means of communication should be blocked, and in fact they should be imprisoned in their own houses,” he stated.

The Guardian Council chairman also thanked the people for their high turnout in the celebrations marking the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Jannati commented on the recent political developments in the region and praised the Egyptian youth for toppling President Hosni Mubarak.

He expressed concern that the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia may only result in the replacement of political pawns and not major political changes.

He also pointed to the uprisings in Bahrain and Yemen, saying the Yemeni and Bahraini rulers kill their people and don’t learn lessons from the downfall of rulers in Egypt and Tunisia.
