Iran`s Majlis committee to review regional developments on Sunday
TEHRAN (MNA) – Iran`s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee will review the latest developments in Egypt, Tunisia and other regional countries on Sunday.
Ali Akbar Velayati, Iranian senior advisor to Supreme Leader in international affairs, will also attend the meeting.
On February 11, Hosni Mubarak resigned and transferred power to the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces following 18 days of protests and demonstrations by millions of Egyptians who called for the departure of Mubarak and the establishment of a democratic government.
A series of street protests in December 2010 and January 2011 also led to the ouster of Tunisia’s former president, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who fled to Saudi Arabia on January 14.
Major demonstrations have also been held in Yemen, Bahrain, Jordan, and Libya, and there have been smaller demonstrations and minor incidents in Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, and Sudan.
