Kuwait''s diving team displays achievements on 50th independence anniv.

KUWAIT, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's diving team of Kuwait Science Club took part on Friday in the 50th independence anniversary exhibition (Feb 17 - Feb 27) which is held on the fairgounds in Mishref as a way of participating in Kuwait's national celebrations.
Team's captain Talal Al-Sarhan told KUNA today that the team's participation in the exhibition comes out of its keenness to join the joys and national days of Kuwaiti society, and to answer the invitation extended to the team in order to display its acts of heroism and achievements.
Al-Sarhan added that the team's achievements further enshrined the prestigious position of Kuwait at the local and world levels, and became a model of Kuwaiti voluntary action on preserving environment and spreading environmental awarenes s.
The Kuwaiti diving team got world certificates of appreciation due to its relentless efforts on the environmental conservation, foremost among them is the UN certificate on the occasion of the UN 50th anniversary, he made clear.
Kuwaiti diving team started to participate in the national celebrations since the first day through commemorating the liberation of Qaruh island, and raising the Kuwaiti flag at it as it was the first part liberated from Kuwait.
The ceremony was attended by military, coast guard members, and the Kuwaiti marine corps in the presence of the Sheikha Amthal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chairwoman of media committee emanating from the supreme national celebrations committee.
The team's pavilion sees a high turnout from the exhibition's audiences due to its environmental activities, besides the opportunity to enroll at the training courses of summer within those courses accredited by Professional Association of Diving Instructors.
Al-Sarhan asserted that the team always seeks, within its strategy, to spread the environmental awareness through taking part in activities and exhibitions, besides its annual projects that aim at developing the abilities and skills of its members.
He added that this helps the team's members to achieve the desired goals at a high level of professionalism, within the world rules set for diving's safety and security.
Kuwaiti diving team was founded in 1991 by the Kuwait Science Club in order to carry out dozens of serious environmental projects for salvaging and rehabilitating the local marine environment.
The team was accredited as the official representative of diving in Kuwait in both Arab and international federations.
