DAILY WRAP-UP OF TURKEY ECONOMY NEWS

ANKARA (A.A) - 23.02.2011 - Turkish lira gained against Euro and U.S. dollar on Wednesday. One dollar traded at 1.6020 lira and Euro at 2.2000 lira in Istanbul free market.
Turkish stock market was down 2.36 percent. The National-100, main index of the Istanbul Stock Exchange, fell 1,527.08 point during the full session. The index closed at 63,131.36 points.
The Istanbul Gold Exchange (IAB) was up by 0.81 percent. A total of 470 kilograms of gold was traded at the IAB. The trading volume was 143,500 TL in one transaction and 21.1 million U.S. dollars in 48 transactions.
The Interbank Turkish Lira Reference Interest Rate (TRLIBOR) -- overnight interest rate -- decreased to 7.1623 percent on Wednesday. It was 7.2066 percent on Tuesday.
The amount of money in circulation was down on Tuesday. Turkish Central Bank data, released on Wednesday, showed that the volume of Turkish banknotes in circulation dropped 534.4 million Turkish liras (TL) to 48.4 billion TL on Tuesday. The bank said money in circulation was 48.9 billion TL on Monday.
