Uprisings in Mideast, a big blow to US, Hillary Clinton, a loser

Tehran, Feb 24, IRNA – The chain revolutions taking place in countries which are considered as Washington allies has already put the US foreign policies in a defiant and passive position.
It has also made the US Foreign Secretary Hillary Clinton as the target of severe criticism.
Late January this year when the second public uprising was starting in Egypt following what had already happened in Tunisia, Clinton called back her 260 ambassadors and representatives from all over the world to Washington.
Contrary to what was officially published about this unprecedented meeting, the main reason for such a call was the heightening tension in the US diplomatic apparatus.
A diplomat who is on mission in an East Asian country told IRNA on Wednesday that the US administration has been forced to abandon its long-term programs because of its failure to foresee such a situation in the Middle East.
The diplomat said he acquired the information from one of his American counterparts in a dinner banquet.
He said the American diplomats – particularly the ones who were based in the Middle East – went to Washington with empty hands.
Based on an order issued by Clinton, the American diplomats are not permitted to do anything but maintain silence, accumulate information and voice superficial support for any kind of public uprising in the Middle East countries during the current situation.
The American diplomats are not allowed to back even the closest allies of the US.
Talking to his Asian counterpart, the American diplomat termed this policy of Hillary Clinton as “going with the trend”, saying that they were not allowed to support even Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah who was a US strategic ally if anything happened there.
The IRNA source whose country has friendly ties with Iran added that a close look at the US positions regarding public uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Bahrain only proved the US bewilderment as well as a decline in the American foreign policy apparatus.
The source added that Americans challenged when things happened to Egypt’s Mubarak but have adopted silence regarding events in Libya and are wandering as for what is going on in Bahrain because the west’s life vessels, namely the energy resources deposited in the region, are now being threatened.
He said the Americans were ready to sacrifice their closest partners and allies in the Persian Gulf region to avoid public uprisings inflicting damage to them.
On January 31, 2011, following the public uprising in Egypt against the Mubarak dictatorship, the US Foreign Secretary office, in an unprecedented move, summoned all its ambassadors and diplomats from all the world to Washington for a political meeting.
260 ambassadors, consulate officials and diplomats from across the world attended the week-long meeting.
The US Foreign Secretary Spokesman Philip Crawly commented on the meeting during a press conference, claiming the meeting took place in line with continuing “review of the development and the four-year-long diplomacy of the US Foreign Secretary office'.
However, analysts see the meeting as the indicator of the depth of vulnerability of the US in face of public uprisings in the region./end
