FOREIGN MINISTRY MAKES INSTITUTIONAL REFORM

Jakarta, Aug 19 (ANTARA) - Foreign Affairs Ministry office continues to make institutional reform in an effort to create more efficiency and professionalism, Foreign Minister Hassan Wirayuda said here on Tuesday.

Speaking at a function to observe the 63rd anniversary commemoration ceremony of Foreign Affairs Ministry office at Pancasila Building on Pejambon street, Wirayuda said the reform movement was started in 2001 by recruiting new diplomats, managing the institution, and improving the diplomats' professionalism.

"We have been making reform since 2001 by applying time and administrative discipline, improving working system, and creating reliable diplomat through transparent recruitment system," Wirayuda said at the ceremony which was attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

At the function, traditionally called "Foreign Policy Breakfast", the President was accompanied by First Lady Ani Yudhoyono.

Also present at the event were United Indonesia Cabinet members, ambassadors of foreign countries in Jakarta, state institution leaders, and Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsuddin.

Initiated by then foreign minister Ali Alatas, Foreign Policy Breakfasts have been held by the ministry to mark its anniversary since 2002.

At Foreign Policy Breakfasta , the invited guests can raise foreign policy issues and discuss them with the government in an informal atmosphere.
