PRESIDENT TO SPEAK AT DPD PLENARY SESSION

Jakarta, Aug 19 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will speak on regional development at a special plenary session of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) on Friday, DPR Deputy Chairman Irman Gusman said.

"After the president's address, the DPD will hold meet in two sessions to study the president's address," Gusman said here on Tuesday.

He said the DPD would invite the chairmen of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the State Audit Board (BPK)to speak at the first session.

In the second session, the DPD would host a dialog between the heads of regional administrations and Home Affairs Minister Mardiyanto, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Head of the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) Paskah Suzetta.

The DPD's special plenary meeting would be attended by political party leaders, regional administrations and legislative assembly (DPRD) leaders and working partners of DPD in the House of Representatives (DPR) such as DPR's factions and legislation board.

Gusaman said the DPD'special plenary meeting was an annual activity to discuss matters relating to regional development.

"This will be the fourth time the DPD holds such a special plenary meeting in implementing its constitutional task to provide inputs for consideration in the drafting of the state budget," he added.
