Al Ketbi honours Commanding Officer of Britain HMS Pembroke
Abu Dhabi, Feb 27, 2011 (WAM) - Major General Obaid Al Ketbi, Head of Military Committees and IDEX Spokesperson, honoured last Thursday at ADNEC marina Lieutenant -Commander Angus Essenhigh, Commanding Officer of the HMS Pembroke of the British Royal Navy.
Al Ketbi said the gesture was in recognition of the distinguished participation of the British vessel in the water-borne live demonstrations of the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX).
Al Ketbi added that IDEX and NAVDEX organisers treasured this participation as it added value to the event's activities.
Al Ketbi and Essenhigh exchanged souvenirs during the function. The British commanding officer told WAM that the HMS Pembroke is taking part for the first time at NAVDEX. He said their participation was fantastic and that they enjoyed the event. ''We hope to be here again in the next IDEX if we invited,'' he said.
