Azeri Diaspora commemorates Khojaly victims in Prague
Baku, January 27 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s embassy in Prague and Azeri-Czech Society have held a protest event in the Namesti Miru Square in the Czech capital to pay tribute to victims of the Khojaly genocide.
The event, called Justice for Khojaly-Light to Khojaly, marked the 19th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.
The event featured the installation of the Khojaly tent, demonstration of a documentary and organization of an exhibition about the tragedy. The organizers distributed over 500 brochures. The visitors to the Khojaly tent signed a petition calling Armenia the aggressor.
The organizers lighted 613 candles (the number of Azerbaijanis killed by Armenians in the Khojaly genocide) in the square.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador Tahir Taghizade and head of the Azeri-Czech Society made speeches highlighting the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Justice for Khojaly campaign. They compared the Khojaly genocide to tragic events in the Czech village of Lidice, which was completely destroyed by Nazi forces in 1942.
