Kuwait''s 14-member football association board to be formed

By Khalid Al-Dihani (with photos) LONDON, Feb 27 (KUNA) -- A 14-member board of directors of Kuwait Football Association is to be created, with each member to be elected by his sports club, a sports official said here Sunday.
The move came at the behest of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Yussif Al-Beidan, an official of Kuwait Football Association, told KUNA on the sidelines of a Kuwaiti student festival here.
The association's board of directors will hold a news conference on Tuesday to convene the general assembly to approve the 17 members as representatives of all member sports clubs, he said.
However, he said such a step is not the final approach to fulfill the requirements of the International Olympic Committee, but it is a "good gesture" to put an end to the problem.
"The f inal solution is to revise Kuwaiti sports laws in line with international laws," he said.
He hoped that the National Assembly or government would come up with a draft law aiming to amend sports laws pursuant to international charters with a view to turning over this page and ending differences.
