HIGH WAVES TO OCCUR IN WATERS WEST OF LAMPUNG, MERAUKE
Bandar Lampung, Aug 20 (ANTARA) - The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) predicted that high waves will occur in the waters wesr of Lampung in the southern part of Sumatra and Merauke in Papua, all Wednesday.
The waves in the waters west of Lampung were expected to reach a height of 3,0-4,0 meters and those in the waters west of Merauke up to four meters, the agency said here Wednesday.
The BMG said that three- to four-meter-high waves could also happen in the waters south of Java and Bali, in the Banda Sea, the Aru islands and Arafuru Sea. These conditions were dangerous for fishermen's boats, barges and ferries.
Waves in the waters west of West Sumatra and Bengkulu could reach a height of 2-3 meters and those in the Sunda Strait 1.25-2.0 meters, BMG said.
