Alawi: points system deprived efficient people from occupying ministries

Baghdad (NINA) – MP from Iraqiya Slate, Hassan Alawi, said “the big number of ministries resulted from the use of the points system which denied many efficient people from taking charge of ministries that they could have succeeded in managing.”

He added in a statement to NINA that “multi-party governments, in countries suffering from lack of social cohesion, have big number of ministries as we have in Iraq now. This big number results from multi-parties and blocs resulting from elections, all of them have seats in parliament.”

He clarified “adopting this principle will obstruct and paralyze the coming governments, as we might have an intelligent parliament member who cannot run for Oil Ministry, for example, because he does not have enough points, therefore, unpretentious people take posts.”
