Iran FM confers with Swiss president on global developments

Tehran, March 2, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, who is in Geneva to attend international disarmament conference, on Tuesday held talks with Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey on issues of mutual interests and global developments.

Both Salehi and Calmy-Rey reviewed ways to expand cooperation in political, economic, and cultural areas as well as international developments.

Highlighting profound relations between Iran and Switzerland, Salehi said ample untapped potentials exist which should be explored.

For his part, Calmy-Rey, who also is in charge of Swiss foreign ministry, said disarmament of nuclear weapons is a topic of priorities of Swiss foreign policy which requires collective contribution and cooperation of all countries, especially the nuclear weapons states./end
