Abu Dhabi Police, Sheikh Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development sign MoU

Abu Dhabi, March 2, 2011 (WAM) - The General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, on the training of prison inmates to prepare them to set up small enterprises, and provide funding to them after release as per rules in this respect.
The signing ceremony was attended by HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Also present were Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, Director General of the Human Resources, Brig. Ali Khalfan Al Dhahiri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Police's General Headquarters and Hussein Al Nowais, Board Chairman of Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development.
Col. Mohammed Saif Al Zaabi, Director of the Department of Correctional and Penal Institutions at Abu Dhabi Police, signed on the behalf of Abu Dhabi Police, while Dr Ahmed Khalifa Al Mutawa, Chief Executive of the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, signed on the behalf of the fund.
Commenting on the signing of MoU, Al Zaabi said the move comes in line with the cooperation framework between Police and the fund to develop the projects, stressing keenness of the leadership to effect cooperation horizons between the ministries and social developmental organisations.
As per the agreement, he continued, special rehabilitation programme will be provided to the prisons to help them incorporate in community through setting up small investment enterprises.
For his part, Al Mutawa said that the fund was committed to contribute in the rehabilitation of the inmates effectively so as to benefit from the social development being pursued by the leadership in the UAE. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
