CBK Governor heads to Abu Dhabi for GCC central banks meetings

KUWAIT, March 8 (KUNA) -- The Governor of Kuwait Central Bank (CBK) Sheikh Salem Abdelaziz Al-Sabah is heading to Abu Dhabi as head of an official delegation to take part in the 52nd meeting of the governors of the central banks and heads of financial institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council, set for March 9-10.
A CBK statement Monday said the agenda includes topics related to efforts to bolster joint action in view of reports and records of meetings of technical committees.
The discussions would also cover developments relating to the committee to counter money laundering and financing of terrorism. This is in addition to discussion of aspects of cooperation with the European Union on countering money laundering and cutting financing of terrorism, a program on which had been approved June 14 by the GCC and E U foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
The committee of the governors of the central banks and heads of financial institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council meets twice a year for exchange of views and expertise and for deliberation on the main economic, monetary, and banking issues of current interest and discussions on activities of GCC bodies in the field.
