Kuwait begins implementing E. Sudan''s grant of USD 50 mln

Kuwait began on Wednesday the initial actions to implement the USD 50 million grant for eastern Sudan
AL-QADARIF, Eastern Sudan, March 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwait began on Wednesday the initial actions to implement the USD 50 million grant for eastern Sudan that was announced during a conference of donors and investors which was hosted last December by Kuwait.
A Kuwaiti delegation, led by Ambassador to Sudan Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Al-Harbi and including the mission of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), toured the state of Al-Qadarif to get acquainted with projects that will be implemented through the grant.
The delegation, accompanied by Sudanese Minister of Environment and Urban Development Mabrouk Mubarak, also toured four sites for vocational and technical schools and five rural hospitals across the state.
Al-Harbi said in a statement the delegation's visit confirms Kuw ait's fulfillment of its promise and seriousness towards our brothers in Easern Sudan and our interest in the achievements of projects as soon as possible.
Al-Harbi pointed out that the grant projects focused on health and education sectors because the orientations of Kuwait have always focused on development and human development as being the foundation for evolution.
For his part, Governor of Al-Qadarif praised Kuwait's hosting of the donors conference in December 2010 and the generous support provided by Kuwait during the conference for Eastern Sudan.
He said that the Kuwaiti delegation's visit confirms the credibility that was known by the people of Kuwait, noting that Kuwaiti Fund is the first agency which has actually begun operations on the ground few weeks after the conference.
