2nd Iran Tourism Rally Classic winners announced, awarded

Tehran, March 15, IRNA – top 16 winners of 2nd Iran Tourism Rally of Classic Cars enroot Tehran-Abyaneh were announced here Monday and received their awards.
Referring to the territorial diversity of the country, Deputy Tourism Secretary of the Iranian Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Shahbaz Yazdani, said, “Iran ranks 5th in the world from that point of the view and can be the host of numerous rally tours aimed at boosting the country’s tourism industry.”
Pointing out that the infrastructures for boosting the tourism industry have somehow been provided in Iran today, he referred to the increased number of hotel rooms, as an example, adding that “in the Nourouz (Iranian New Year) vacation this year (starting on March 20th) we have 40% increased hotel rooms compared to last year.”
Managing Director of Automobile Club and Tourism Center Fariborz Ensafi, too, said, “This rally was sponsored aimed at boosting tourism and introducing our national resources and historic sites in that are appropriate in car race field, as well as the pilgrimage sites along the route of the race.
He said that good driving in addition to speed had been the characteristic of this rally and each violation, like over-speeding, illegal take over, zigzag movement and unheeding the traffic signs, each of which had one negative point.
The 15 member juror’s team of the rally was quite experienced in their job.
The Automobile Club and Tourism Center managing director said that 140 participants in 3 member teams, including a driver a navigator and a map reader participated at the competition in 50 classic cars aged 25 year and over.
At the end of the rally the top three drivers and the top three map readers received their plaques of honor and the prizes.
Also the fourth to the 10th top teams received prizes respectively with their ranks at the rally.
The Tourism and Club, the Interior Ministry, and Iran's Disciplinary Force were the co-sponsors of the rally./end
