Azerbaijan`s Health Minister attends meeting of European Health Policy Forum

Baku, March 16 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev attended the first meeting of the European Health Policy Forum of High-level Government Officials in Andorra.
The event brought together high-level representatives from the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region.
Mr. Shiraliyev chaired the meeting which focused on health systems and public health. Countries described the progress they had made with health reforms, sometimes in difficult economic circumstances, since adopting the Tallinn Charter.
Participants described their public health activities, both individual initiatives and full-fledged public health plans or strategies. Many countries were reforming their public health plans and keen to benefit from others` experience or share their own.
Member States also discussed their initial responses to and the purpose, likely outcomes and potential of Health 2020.
During the forum, the Azerbaijani Minister met with WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab and Hans Kluge, Director, Division of Health Systems and Public Health at WHO/Europe.
Shiraliyev also met Andorra`s Minister of Health, Social Affairs and Labour Mrs. Silvia Bonet Perot to discuss bilateral cooperation.
The Azeri minister had meetings with health officials from Poland, Italy, Belarus, Ukraine and Turkmenistan.
