“Azerbaijani mugham and Middle East music” symposium underway in Baku

Baku, March 17 (AzerTAc). A scientific symposium “Azerbaijani mugham and Middle Eastern music” has today continued here as part of the “Mugham world” second International Mugham Festival.
American professor Elsner Jurgen and Azerbaijani art critic Surayya Agayeva were chairpersons of the Symposium.
Canadian scientist Robert Simth made a report “Main structure and processes in Mohammad Reza Shajarian `s voice”.
He stressed the impossibility of West and East national music`s investigation without necessary knowledge on the activity of authoritative art workers. He added these individuals and traditions form, definite and promote each other in time and place aspect. Azerbaijani mugham lives and has reached nowadays as it bases on ancient customs.
About 5 reports will be made by art critics from Azerbaijan, Tunis, Finland and Russia.
A “roundtable” will conclude the symposium on the second half of day.
