Second International Mugham Contest underway in Baku

Baku, March 19 (AzerTAc). The second International Mugham Contest has continued in the organ and chamber musical hall of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall after Muslim Magomayev.
Azerbaijani musician Nishana Bakhishova with her compositions “Simayi-shams” and “Mirzahuseyn” opened the contest held as part of the International Mugham Festival “Mugham World”.
“Deli: Surinder Singh” band from India, Morocco`s “Mamam” and Kuwait`s “East” ensembles and Turkish singer Yesim Koksal performed during the day.
Musicians are evaluated by a jury panel including Azerbaijan People`s Artists Siyavush Karimi, Ramiz Zohrabov, Arif Babayev, representative of UNESCO, professor of the Paris National Centre for Scientific Researches Jean Duhring, Turkish music critic Ozan Yarman, American scientist William Samith and Iranian composer Ehsan Khezrlou.
Saturday will host awarding ceremony after the performances of Azerbaijani and Iranian musicians.
