Sudanese officials praise Kuwait philanthropic aid

KHARTOUM, April 20 (KUNA) -- The Sudanese Businessmen and Employers' Federation held a broad ceremony, late on Tuesday, honoring the State of Kuwait, namely the ambassador in Khartoum Suleiman Abdullah Al-Harbi, in appreciation for its solidarity with the Sudanese people.
The gathering grouped top officials and figures, notably the Presidential Advisor Mustafa Othman Ismail, the former president, Abdul Rahman Suwar Al-Dhahab, ministers, executives, ambassadors, businessmen and media personnel.
In an address at the ceremony, Ismail expressed appreciation for Kuwait's Amir, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Government and people, for their backing for Sudan at various regional and international quarters, as well as their contributions to the country's development and reconstruction.
He praised rol e of the Kuwaiti ambassador for ensuring success of the donors conference for East Sudan, hosted by Kuwait last December, and boosting joint investments in addition to his sponsorship of Kuwaiti charities in Sudan.
Al-Harbi has played a crucial role in clarifying to the Kuwaiti officials and quarters conditions of the domestic investments and businesses in Sudan and promoting the commercial cooperation between the two brotherly countries, he added.
The honoring ceremony depicts the high level of the historic relations between the two countries and the cordial sentiments of the people of Sudan for HH the Amir, the Government and the people of Kuwait, Ismail said. He also praised HH the Amir and the Sudanese President Omar Al-Bechir for personally "patronizing these close ties." The relations have been further boosted since the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Ahmad, paid a visit to Sudan last December to follow up on resu lts of the donation convention, and for chairing meetings of the joint supreme commission.
The presidential advisor shed light on the Kuwaiti aid for development projects in Sudan. And paid homage to the soul of the late Kuwaiti businessman, Nasser Al-Kharafi, noting his philanthropic activities in the country.
