Vientiane’s 450th anniversary celebration plan discussed
(KPL) The meeting on preparing for the celebration of the 450th anniversary of Vientiane as the country’s capital in 2010 was held here on Wednesday.
Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, who also presides over the Organising Committee for the 450th anniversary of the celebration of Vientiane as the capital. “The celebration is very important and a landmark in the Lao history,” said Mr. Somsavat.
At the meeting Mr Somsavat also urged the sub-committees involved in the celebration to review their preparatory works to ensure that the celebration will be held as planned.
King Sayasetthathirath moved the capital from Luang Prabang and proclaimed Vientiane as the capital of the Kingdom of Lane Xang in 1560.
