Azeri FM meets Spanish counterpart


Baku, June 17 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Trinidad Jimenez as part of his visit to Spain.
In the course of the conversation, Mammadyarov noted there is great potential for bilateral cooperation in various spheres.
Jimenez, in turn, stressed Spain`s companies are ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan particularly in the energy field.
The parties agreed to hold a business forum with participation of both countries` companies.
The Azeri Minister briefed the Spanish minister on negotiations process to settle Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Present-day situation in North Africa and Middle East was also discussed in the meeting.
Mammadyarov invited the Spanish Minister to pay a visit to Azerbaijan.
An agreement on short-term visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic passports was signed following the meeting.
The same day, the Azeri Minister met with Duran i Lleida, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Parliament and members of the committee.
Speaking at the meeting, Mammadyarov spoke of achievements Azerbaijan has gained during 20 years after restoring its independence and provided an insight into the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
In turn, the representatives of Spanish parliament said they witnessed rapid development in Azerbaijan during their visit to the country as members of NATO PA.
