Azerbaijani scientists build earthquake forecast station using suspended oil well
Baku, June 21 (AzerTAc). A new seismic-acoustic station has been built by the scientists of the ANAS Cybernetics Institute at the head of a suspended oil well at Qum Island in the Caspian Sea. 15-20 hours before the actual earthquake, the station registers seismic noises received by means of steel well bores from the deep strata of earth. Noises preceding all earthquakes within a radius of 200-300 km were registered during the experiments in the period from 01.06.2010 to 01.05.2011.
Construction of identical stations in Shirvan and Siazan regions is carried out at the present time by a group of Azerbaijani scientists and developers under the guidance of Director of the Cybernetics Institute Academician Telman Aliyev.
