Big Bang member responsible for deadly car accident: police

SEOUL, June 24 (Yonhap) -- Police released on Friday investigation results that say one member of popular Korean boy band Big Bang is accountable for killing a motorcycle driver in a midnight car accident in Seoul.
Kang Dae-sung, known just as Daesung in the entertainment industry, was booked by police on May 31 after running a male bike driver over on Yanghwa Bridge in northern Seoul at around 1:00 a.m.
He later crashed into a taxi in the same lane that had its emergency lights on, hurting the driver.
The victim, surnamed Hyun, was believed to have suffered a major injury by driving his bike into a street lamp post before being run over by an Audi sedan driven by the boy band member.
In order to find out what caused his death, police commissioned the national scientific investigative body to conduct an autopsy of the victim.
The autopsy results, released on Friday, showed the major cause of the bike driver's death was the collision involving Kang's vehicle. Kang accidentally ran over the person who was lying in the middle of the road in the aftermath of the previous crash, according to police.
"Kang drove his car with the bike driver stuck to the bottom of the vehicle, resulting in his death on the spot due to multiple injuries," police said.
Police added Kang did not see the man and held him accountable for negligence. He was not inebriated at the time of the accident, according to police.
Following the findings, Kang's case will be soon sent to the prosecution for a further probe, police noted.
Police actions against the member of the popular five-member Korean pop group are expected to put a roadblock in Big Bang's major performance activities in the Asia and Europe.
