Azerbaijan joins International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics

Baku, July 2 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan has been elected a permanent member of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) at the organization`s 25th General Assembly.
The Assembly titled “Earth on the Edge: Science for a Sustainable Planet” held in Melbourne, Australia brought together representatives from 28 country as US, Brazil, Italy, France, Denmark, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, China, Japan and others.
The Secretary General of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) National Committee on Geodesy and Geophysics, senior research fellow, Gulam Babayev represented Azerbaijan in the Assembly. He made a report on "Seismic monitoring in Azerbaijan on the basis of the Geology Institute and database of the Azerbaijan National Information Center" in the "Young scientists and research results" section.
IUGG is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the scientific study of the Earth using geophysical and geodesic techniques.
