Gandhi's supporters pray for her speedy recovery

New York, Aug 7 (PTI) A handful of supporters of Congress
President Sonia Gandhi gathered outside a local hospital here,
where they believe she had been admitted, and prayed for her
speedy recovery from the surgery for an undisclosed ailment.
More than 10 supporters belonging to the 'Indian Congress
party USA' assembled outside the Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Centre here Saturday and wanted to offer prayers
inside the hospital's chapel but were denied permission by
hospital authorities.
There has been speculation in media that 64-year-old
Gandhi has been admitted to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Centre, but there is no confirmation.
The Congress party has declined to disclose Gandhi's
ailment and the surgery she has undergone. Nor has the party
disclosed the hospital, neither the country where the surgery
took place citing request from the family that her health was
a personal matter and they needed others to respect their
privacy.
Gandhi's children Rahul and Priyanka and son-in-law
Robert Vadra are with her.
She has been moved out of the ICU, where she remained for
24 hours after her surgery, the party said in a statement
Saturday.
