WAM strengthen its presence on pages of social networking sites
Abu Dhabi, Aug 9, 2011 (WAM) - The Emirates News Agency (WAM) has applied new standards for the development of its online news to achieve the highest degrees of social networking web pages and reach millions of readers and visitors around the world.
This step comes within the efforts of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, Chairman of the National Media Council (NMC) to expand media activities in the country and highlight its visibility on the external level.
Millions of visitors can now follow WAM on Facebook and Twitter and benefit from the flow of news, photographs and television broadcast around the clock to the most prominent events and activities of political, economic, cultural, tourist and social development in the UAE.
Sheikh Hamdan said that this move is one of the initiatives of the NMC and WAM to expand online news on the global level, keep pace with the tremendous development in social media and find new outlets for the agency.
WAM has established a page on Facebook and Twitter to disseminate important news to them on a daily basis in both Arabic and English, while the number of news articles published on those sites have reached more than 2400 news so far. It is worth mentioning that WAM brings out about 180 news per day in both Arabic and English including photographs to serve different media organisations in the world. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
