Police lathicharge on workers will be taken in Parliament: BJP

New Delhi, Aug 9 (PTI) Alleging that Delhi Police could
have beaten up protesting party workers under the instructions
from the Home Ministry, primary Opposition Bhartiya Janata
Party on Tuesday said it will raise the issue of "atrocity"
unleashed on Yuva Morcha activists in both houses of
Parliament on Wednesday.
BJP chief Nitin Gadkari said through the incident, the
Congress is trying to tell everyone that if anyone speaks
about "their corruption, their hands and legs will be taken
off."
"Protesting BJP workers were taken into police station
and beaten up and the order to carry out this came from their
higher officials... I think the orders came from the Home
Ministry," Gadkari alleged after meeting injured BJP workers
at the RML Hospital here.
In a democracy, Gadkari said, everyone has a right to
protest in a peaceful manner and alleged that the Congress was
"trying to stifle democracy" by unleashing attacks on BJP
workers.
"If you think that you can deal us like this, we will
not be scared to pay back in the same coin," he warned. "Are
they indicating that another Emergency is on the anvil?"
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha (lower house of
Parliament) Sushma Swaraj alleged that the government was not
just "involved in corruption, but also in atrocity." She also
claimed over 40 BJP workers were injured and some of them had
fractures in leg and hands.
"People were brutally beaten up. One physically
challenged person was brutally beaten up. He said he has
already lost one leg but still police beat him up," she
alleged.
"We will surely raise the issue in both Houses of
Parliament tomorrow," she said.
