Emirates Post leads Gulf participation effectively in the global stamp exhibition in Japan

Abu Dhabi, Aug 14, 2011 (WAM) - With the active and distinguished participation of Emirates Post, the United Arab Emirates headed the Gulf Cooperation Council states (GCC) in the international stamps exhibition in Japan (Philanippon 2011), which was held in Yokohama during the period from July 28 to August 2, 2011 under the slogan "stamps represent a link between all the countries of the world." The exhibition was inaugurated by the Emperor of Japan's wife Princess Takamado, Honorary President of the exhibition, in the presence of a number of ambassadors and prominent figures in Japanese society and a number of top philatelists and stamp collectors from around the world.
The exhibition was attended by all international confederations for philatelists, international postal corporations and a host of stamp dealers. The exhibition hosted 67 countries of them (6) Arab states (Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Tunis). More than three thousand stamp sets were exhibited under organization and sponsorship of the World Federation of Philatelic "FIP". The exhibition aims to develop the philatelic culture among all people, including children. The exhibition also included workshops and display of world-renowned postage stamp sets .
Emirates Post pavilion witnessed intense presence of visitors and those interested in the mail culture and industry. In addition to the directors of some GCC postal corporations, the pavilion was visited by a number of officials and Arab diplomats working in embassies of the Arab countries in Japan and members of the of UAE and Arab communities in Japan.
On his part, Ibrahim Bin Karam, Commercial CEO of Emirates Post Group, commented on the success of Emirates Post participation in this World Expo, saying that "this exhibition was an opportunity to promote the civilization of the UAE between the large number of participants from all over the world".
Several philatelist exhibitors and participants in the name of the United Arab Emirates and the Emirates Philatelic as well as the Gulf Group won gold and silver medals in the competitions held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
Philanippon 2011 is jointly organized between the Japanese Postal Services Company "Japan Post" and the Union of Japanese Philatelic Federation and Japanese Philatelic Society. The exhibition was held in Yokohama which witnessed the launching of the first Japanese international mail service. This year also marks the one hundred fortieth "140" anniversary of the Japanese Postal Service.
Moreover, this exhibition is aimed at promoting stamp collecting, and to instil a culture of happiness through the collection of stamps, as well as participation in the activities of stamp collectors among the younger generation. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
