UAE President receives 'Islamic Personality of the Year' Award

Abu Dhabi, Aug 17, 2011 (WAM) - President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan received this evening at Al Rawdha Palace in Al Ain the 'Islamic Personality of the Year' Award from Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Sheikh Khalifa was selected for the coveted award by the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) in its 15th edition. The ceremony was attended by H.H. sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region.
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan expresses appreciation for DIHQA's efforts to preserve the Holy Quran as the source of code of conduct for Muslims.
Sheikh Khalifa said:"the award is associated with meanings which reflect our interest as one Muslim nation in preserving Islam as the religion of tolerance, moderation, peace, concord and harmony among people of the world.
For his part, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed pride in honouring Sheikh Khalifa as the 'Islamic Personality of the Year' as he is a leading figure of philanthropy and humanitarian work whose giving goes beyond his own people to the whole Arab World to alleviate the suffering of the needy and bereaved people." "My brother Sheikh Khalifa deserves all the loyalty and appreciation, not only as a unique wise leader, but also as a generous man who have all the good characteristics of charity and generosity. The award is well-deserved and His Highness is capable of handling each and every great national and human matter," Sheikh Mohammed added.
Chairman of the organising committee of DIHQA Ibrahim Bu Malha said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid gave orders to DIHQA to take responsibility of printing and handing out one million copies of the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Mus'haf (of the Holy Quran) only for the sake of being awarded by Allah. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
