Dubai's telethon raises Dh18.8million for Horn of Africa on first day
Dubai, Aug 18, 2011 (WAM) - A two-day telethon by Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) yesterday raised Dh18.8 million for victims of famine in the Horn of Africa. The fundraiser which kicked off Tuesday on DMI's TV stations and print publications and radio stations aims to provide emergency humanitarian aid for famine-struck populations in Somalia and other drought-hit Horn of Africa countries.
Entitled ‘A'inouhum', Arabic for "help them", the fundraising telethon is part of a media campaign by Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian '&' Charity Establishment.
